Duck Donuts, known for serving Warm, Delicious and Made To Order!® donuts, announced the grand opening of the 17th shop in Virginia, and second location for franchise owner, is set for Saturday, March 18, at 7 a.m. Owned locally by Emma Phares, owner of the popular Roanoke shop, the new store is in River Ridge Mall, 3405 Candlers Mountain Road in Lynchburg.

To celebrate the grand opening, the first 25 guests in line Saturday and Sunday morning will win one free dozen donuts per month for a year. In addition, the first and 100th customer on Saturday will receive a special gift basket filled with Duck Donuts merchandise and free donuts.

“My husband and I have a deep connection to the Outer Banks in North Carolina; it’s where we would vacation every summer, including our honeymoon,” said Emma Phares. “No vacation to the Outer Banks was complete without a box of delicious Duck Donuts. Discovering Duck Donuts was a franchising and having an interest in becoming an entrepreneur, I knew we had to bring this unique concept to our area. Now, five years after opening our successful Roanoke shop, we are opening our second location and cannot wait to bring a taste of the Outer Banks to those in Lynchburg with our warm, delicious and made-to-order donuts.”

Phares and her husband, Jay, both grew up in Bedford County Virginia, where they currently reside and raise their children. Emma works as a nurse manager for Anthem, serving patients throughout Virginia. Jay has an extensive background as a teacher in local school and he’s also a committed defensive coordinator for Heritage High School's football team.

The 1,000 square-foot retail shop reflects the franchise’s iconic beach theme and family-friendly atmosphere. In addition to donuts, the Lynchburg location serves Duck Donuts’ signature coffee blends, espresso beverages, donut breakfast sandwiches, donut sundaes, frozen frappes, milkshakes, select retail items, and more.

To celebrate the grand opening, Duck Donuts has selected Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg, a nonprofit whose mission is to help young people to become leaders that make a positive impact on the community, to receive its inaugural Quack Gives Back donation. Guests who visit through April 18 can roundup their change to support the organization’s mission. The Quack Gives Back program promotes partnering with community groups to raise awareness and funds for their causes.

Duck Donuts specializes in warm, delicious and made-to-order donuts. Upon entering the store, customers are welcomed with the aroma of warm, light vanilla cake donuts. Customers can create their own donut combination by choosing from a variety of coatings, toppings and drizzles, including traditional favorites such as chocolate icing with sprinkles and more adventurous creations such as maple icing with bacon. The family-friendly stores offer a viewing area where children and adults alike can watch their donuts being made.
